As per the guidelines set by the Web Accessibility National Transition Strategy, all government websites are required to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0 (WCAG 2.0). VANguard strives to conform to WCAG 2.0, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Change the size of the text

In order to make our website easier to read, you can change the size of the text.

Windows users

  • Press 'Ctrl' and '+' (plus) to zoom in.
  • Press 'Ctrl' and '-' (minus) to zoom out.
  • Press 'Ctrl' and '0' (zero) to return the page to its original size.

Mac users

  • Press 'Command' and '+' (plus) to zoom in.

Internet Explorer

  • Open the View menu.
  • Choose ‘Text Size’.
  • Select a text size option.

Select the ‘Medium’ option to return your text to its default size.

Mozilla Firefox

  • Open the View menu.
  • To make your change to the text only, select ‘Zoom Text Only’.
  • Open the View menu again and choose ‘Zoom In’ or ‘Zoom Out’.

Select ‘Reset’ to return your text to its default size.

Change the size of everything

In most browsers, you can change the size of everything you see on your screen with a keyboard or if you have a mouse with a wheel.

Windows users

  • Press and hold ‘Ctrl’ and '+' (plus) to zoom in.
  • Press and hold ‘Ctrl’ and '-' (minus) to zoom out.
  • Press and hold 'Ctrl’ and '0' (zero) to return the page to its original size.

Mac users

  • Press and hold 'Command' and '+' (plus) to zoom in.
  • Press and hold 'Command' and '-' (minus) to zoom out.
  • Press and hold 'Command' and '0' (zero) to return the page to its original size.

To change the size with a mouse, hold down 'Ctrl' or 'Command' and then scroll the wheel to zoom in or out.

Internet Explorer 7 and above

  • On the bottom right corner of the browser, click the arrow to the right of the ‘Change Zoom Level’ button.
  • Choose one of the percentage options.

Mozilla Firefox

  • Open the View menu.
  • Ensure ‘Zoom Text Only’ is not selected.
  • Open the View menu again and choose ‘Zoom In’ or ‘Zoom Out’.

Navigating our site using a keyboard

You can use your keyboard rather than your mouse to navigate through our site by using the 'Alt' and arrow keys.

  • Browse back - press 'Alt' and the left arrow key.
  • Browse forward - press 'Alt' and right arrow key.
  • Select a link - use the 'Tab' and 'Enter' keys.

  • 'Tab' key - moves focus to the next field or control on a page.
  • 'Shift' + 'Tab' keys - moves focus to the previous field or control on a page.

Downloadable documents/Portable Document Format (PDF) documents

Our website has a number of documents that cannot be provided in HTML format. To assist users to download and share web content, some documents are available in Portable Document Format (PDF). We’ve taken steps to ensure, where possible, that alternate formats are available.

You'll need a PDF viewer such as Adobe Acrobat Reader to read and access the information contained within PDF files on our site. If you don't have a PDF reader you can download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free. Some pages on our site contain PDF documents by necessity. These include:
